The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation (YLD) continues to see the long-term impact of its mission to identify, support and develop emerging leaders in public safety.
YLD recently learned through LinkedIn that former scholarship recipient Scott Lancaster has been appointed chief deputy state fire marshal with the Washington State Patrol State Fire Marshal’s Office. Lancaster was a 2020 recipient of the Chief John M. Eversole Scholarship for Hazardous Materials Responders.
According to LinkedIn, in his new role, Lancaster will lead the agency’s Clean Energy Program, which focuses on research and development of training curriculum for first and second responders. The program addresses a wide range of clean energy initiatives, including solar and wind power, battery energy storage systems, alternative fuels such as hydrogen and propane, and small modular reactors.
The position also includes oversight of hazardous materials training programs for responders across Washington state. Lancaster will supervise three deputy state fire marshals responsible for researching emerging hazards, developing curriculum and coordinating hazardous materials training at all levels for state responders.
YLD values staying connected with past scholarship recipients and celebrating their professional achievements as they advance into leadership roles.
