My leadership philosophy succinctly is “Mission First, People Always.” Admittedly I did not invent this philosophy that is attributed to many points in the military but it is how all leaders should approach their position. As leaders we must complete our task or mission, however, we will not be successful in doing so without our people. In turn, our people must be taken care of before they can be expected to be efficient and successful as followers. Coupled with my performance philosophy of, “Hard things
are worth doing,” the followers who are not respected with both their physical and mental well-being cared for, cannot be expected to maintain the perspective that their hard work continues to be worth their collective efforts.
