Chief Alan Brunacini Special Projects Program for 2024
The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation (YLD) proudly announces the inauguration of the Alan Brunacini Special Projects Program for 2024. This prestigious program will award up to $10,000 to eligible individuals and organizations within the fire and emergency services community to support projects that advance leadership development and training.
Honoring a Legacy of Leadership
“Launching the Alan Brunacini Special Projects Program is a monumental step for YLD,” said Michael Hildebrand, President of the YLD Foundation. “Chief Alan ‘Bruno’ Brunacini’s contributions to the fire service are immeasurable, and this program seeks to continue his legacy by fostering innovative leadership within our community.”
Chief Brunacini, who served on YLD’s Scholarship and Awards Committee for an impressive 28 years (1988-2017), was renowned for his exceptional leadership, sharp wit, and ability to simplify complex problems with elegant solutions.
“If you ever had the privilege of hearing Bruno speak, you know how he could make you laugh while imparting profound wisdom,” Hildebrand added. “He was a charismatic leader who left an indelible mark on everyone he met and the entire fire service industry.”
About the Alan Brunacini Special Projects Program
The Special Projects Program is designed to support initiatives that can be utilized to train, educate, and enhance leadership development within the fire and emergency services sector. Successful projects should demonstrate a clear plan for sharing results and work products with the public safety community on a not-for-profit basis.
Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to:
- Active career or volunteer members of fire, rescue, EMS, or emergency management services.
- Active duty, National Guard, or Reserve members of the U.S. military serving in fire and emergency services roles.
- Fire service organizations committed to advancing leadership development.

The application period for the Alan Brunacini Special Projects Program is now open and will close on October 30, 2024.
