I would describe my philosophy of leadership as the following. I once read a book called servant leadership in this book there was a quote that stuck with me: “Office should seek man, man shouldn’t seek office. ”At first, I did not understand the meaning of this quote. However, over some time I believe that I’ve been able to formulate a meaning relatable to my life. Leaders lead by example, from the front. Through actions, they really do speak louder than words.
I firmly believe that in the fire service you encounter leaders and supervisors whom you want to be like, and whom you do not want to be like. I believe that if you humbly approach a position with the intention of doing good for the department, for others, and for yourself, you won’t go wrong. If you practice what you preach you will be successful.
