My philosophy of leadership is centered on leading by example. I believe in being a leader, not a dictator, and understanding that effective leadership begins with listening. A true leader inspires growth by instilling values, sharing knowledge, and investing in the development of others.

I approach leadership with the mindset that my role is temporary and that part of my responsibility is to prepare the next generation to carry the mission forward. I often say, “I train my replacement every day,” because leadership is not about holding a title; it is about influence, service, and legacy. Anyone, regardless of position, can lead by demonstrating integrity, compassion, and accountability.

For me, leadership also means supporting, encouraging, and creating a safe environment where people feel valued, even when having tough conversations. Delivering correction or guidance with care and respect helps others grow without feeling diminished. That balance of accountability and compassion is what true leadership looks like.

Receiving the YLD Scholarship would allow me to further develop these leadership qualities through continued education and training. The knowledge and skills gained would not only strengthen my ability to serve but also enhance the overall management and operation of my organization by empowering others to lead with confidence, empathy, and purpose.
