Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation Receives Donation from Mission BBQ in Greenbelt

Greenbelt, MD – June 1, 2024 – The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation (YLD) recently received a donation from Mission BBQ in Greenbelt that will be used to help fund scholarships. On Friday, May 31, 2024, Mission BBQ presented a donation of $841.50 to YLD leadership. This marks the 11th consecutive year that Mission BBQ has supported YLD.

Rachael Painter presented the check to Michael Hildebrand, President of YLD, alongside Ryan Wagner, President of the Berwyn Heights Volunteer Fire Department, at the Greenbelt restaurant.

Funds were generated from Mission BBQ’s Blue Cup Hometown Heroes program. With each purchase of a Hometown Heroes Cup, a portion of the proceeds goes to vital charities supporting local Police, Fire, and EMS professionals.

Yvorra Leadership Development is a non-profit private foundation designed to promote leadership development among members of public safety communities. The Foundation was established to continue the efforts of James G. Yvorra, who dedicated his life’s work to the betterment of fire and emergency medical services. Yvorra, was serving as the Deputy Fire Chief of the Berwyn Heights Volunteer Fire Department when he was killed in the line-of-duty.

“On behalf of the Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation, thank you for the donation,” said Michael Hildebrand. “These funds will assist us in developing leaders in fire, EMS, hazardous materials, emergency management, and homeland security.”
