My leadership philosophy revolves around the concept of servant leadership. The core of this philosophy is deeply rooted in placing the needs of others above my own. All my efforts in improving my organization’s hazardous materials program have been aimed at ensuring our members have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to respond safely and competently to hazardous materials incidents. Driving toward this goal has, at times, come with significant personal and professional sacrifice. The most recent example of servant leadership in action is passing on a promotional opportunity because of the benefit that was being afforded our hazardous materials response team members.
