Mission BBQ in Berwyn Heights, Maryland, has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting public safety professionals by making a generous donation to the Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation (YLD). The funds were raised through Mission BBQ’s Blue Cup Hometown Heroes program, which allocates a portion of proceeds from each Hometown Heroes Cup purchase to charities benefiting local police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel. This marks the 12th consecutive year that Mission BBQ has contributed to YLD.

“These funds will be used to provide scholarships to emerging leaders in fire, EMS, hazmat, emergency management, and homeland security,” said Michael Hildebrand, President of YLD, “Thank you Mission BBQ for all you do.”

Yvorra Leadership Development (YLD) is a nonprofit private foundation dedicated to fostering leadership development among members of the public safety community. The Foundation was established in honor of James G. Yvorra, who devoted his life’s work to advancing fire and emergency medical services. At the time of his passing, Yvorra was serving as Deputy Fire Chief of the Berwyn Heights Volunteer Fire Department when he was tragically killed in the line of duty.
